What is precious metal?

"Precious Metal" is a collection of luxury Silk and Metal fabrics. The cloth consists of a longitudinal pure silk warp with transverse weft pure metal threads.

Colouration of the cloth is determined by the colour of the specified silk warp and the particular metal used as a weft thread.

Weft metals include Gold, Silver and Copper.

The base cloth for this collection is woven to specific commission for The Cloth Clinic.

This silk & metal base cloth is subjected to a treatment whereby Soundwaves are used to alter the molecular structure of the cloth and thereby produce permanent decorative patterning.

Random patterning in convoluted, curvilinear and linear designs are the format and hallmark of this collection. Pattern density and process saturation are used to create an intriguing range with differing weights and handling qualities.

Complimentary & co-ordinating collections of this material are available in 2 & 3 dimensions. High-loft flame retarding wadding is used to create deep relief quilted effects which generate intriguing surface qualities, a perfect foil to the fluid characteristics exhibited by the softer 2 dimensional material.
